Particle Counter Calibration

 

Micro-Clean now performs primary calibration of MetOne and Climet Particle Counters.

The particle counter is a critical piece of equipment for monitoring a cleanroom environment. Routine maintenance and proper calibration will guarantee that your unit operates properly and gives you accurate readings.

An optical particle counter passes a stream of sampled air through a sensing chamber at a constant flow rate. This sample passes through a beam of laser light where light is reflected off particles in the air stream and sensed by a photo-diode. The amount of light that is diverted by each particle is interpreted as a voltage. The magnitude of the voltage is directly proportional to the size of the particle that has passed through the chamber. Internal threshold voltages, set during calibration with NIST traceable particles, enable the particle counter to calculate the size and number of particles passing through the counter. Each count is timed to accurately sample a specified volume of air.

Micro-Clean has previously calibrated particle counters by the comparison method (ASTM F649-01) using a factory-calibrated standard counter. Now, we have developed procedures to perform size calibration (the primary method in ASTM F328-98 and JIS B 9921). This gives our customers the primary method calibration identical to the OEM.

Micro-Clean adds an independent Quality Assurance review to ensure proper cGMP compliance. The Quality Assurance reviews, as well as all calibration documentation, are contained in a final documentation package.
